DON’T HOLD YOUR BREATH (1997)
(Robin & Judithe Randall)
This song was written as a PSA for the American Cancer Society as an anti-smoking campaign. I’m not sure if and when it was ever used. Blues rock vibe. If anyone could convince someone to stop smoking, it would be this incredible vocal by Ken Stacey!

DON’T THINK IT DOESN’T MATTER ANYMORE (1996)
(Robin Randall)
For about 10 years, from the mid-80’s till the mid-90’s, we had a songwriting scene going on, a community of writers, singers, musicians and Judithe seemed to be the captain of the ship. Slowly, around the end of this time, people started moving away, going back to their hometowns or journeying to a new place, starting new lives. I think I was really affected by it, as I made the realization things were changing. Back then there was no internet, FB or Zoom, so to stay closely in touch was nearly impossible. I wrote a ballad about acting like all this change was fine, but it really was not easy for me to accept.

DUI OF LOVE (1992) - (Bonus Track)
(Robin Randall, David Hesse, Jeffrey Zimmerman)
This is a fun, bluesy, pop/rock tune about a guy who is driving with his girl and he is “Under the
Influence of Love” and they get caught on the beach! This was a fun song to do. Solli, from the band “Sons Of Angels”, does a super cool vocal on it!

EDGE OF MY SEAT (1985) - (Bonus Track)
(Robin Randall, Jeff Law)
This was the first song I wrote with Jeff Law and the only song I actually sang, before I realized I was better suited behind the scenes. No Autotune nor Melodyne in those days and I just was not good enough to sing the melodies I was writing, but hear them and write them, that I could do. This new wave 80’s tune uses the classic synth lines and drum machine feel of the time. It was a fun track Claude Gaudette put together and very different for me. It was used in the film “Dead As A Doorman” starring Bradley Whitford during a roller rink scene which was totally fitting of this track!

EVERYTHING BUT LOVE (1991)
(Robin & Judithe Randall)
I had a dear friend who was desperately looking to settle down, but kept looking in the wrong places for the person of her dreams. I saw how she was going down a self-destructive path, and discussed it with Judithe. I had some chords, melody and a working lyric, and Judithe came up with the hook/title and we finished the song as my friend’s scenario played out. A rock ballad.

(Robin & Judithe Randall, Helen Harris)
This song was written for the Retinitis Pigmentosa Organization for a performance and Telethon they were doing. This is an eye disease my uncle suffers from. It was performed live at the event at Universal Studios and Stevie Nicks read the lyrics on the telethon, on the radio. Never formally released

EYES OF NIGHT (1987)
(Robin & Judithe Randall, Jeff Silverman)
The lyrics are about unrequited love. It’s a rock song, but the track has a latin-influenced beat to it that Jeff Silverman came up with. I remember having this riff on the piano inspired by reading Judithe’s lyrics, and made a rather unusual modulation. Thankfully, Jeff liked it. I was listening to the Fiona Album a lot at the time and I think she influenced me on this track. Like, what if she covered it? Jeff eventually produced the song for Shari Belafonte and it became the title track.

FALLING TO YOU (2010)
(Robin Randall & Bill LaFleur)
This song has one of my fav arrangements Bill created. I love the cello mixed with the guitar.
We wrote a song about when you know you are starting to fall for someone, although you had been denying it, but then you decide to take that leap of faith. In 6/8 time. Michelle does a great job conveying that feeling on it!

FOREVER FRIENDS (1999)
(Robin & Judithe Randall)
Written for Baywatch for an episode of the same name. A young deaf girl becomes fast friends with an orangutan who has escaped from his evil trainer. They run away together and go on an adventure, but eventually need the Baywatch team to rescue them. Guy had found Windy Wagner and told me “You won’t believe this amazing girl’s voice, we must try her on this song” and boy was he right, she did an incredible performance! Guy’s track has a warmth and groove that adds to the picture of the story of these unlikely best friends.

GARDEN OF NIGHT (1999)
(Judithe Randall & Robert Tepper)
This tells a tale of what happens when you go through the gates in the Garden of Night.
Robert’s music track reminds me of a retro feel mixed with a cool drum loop. Love all the harmonies, like the Beatles, the Birds, and Crosby, Stills and Nash Reunion. This is Robert’s personal favorite of the songs he wrote with Judithe.

GET IT RIGHT (2013)
(Robin Randall & Anna Gossett Johnson)
The song is about regret. Losing the one you love, and wishing you had another chance to say the right words, connect again and move forward. Anna came to me wanting to do a dance song, and then Bill transformed it into this really cool groove with this great guitar part and percussion. Engelo Charles has a powerhouse voice that is showcased throughout this track and he really sings to the sky on this!

GOTTA GET MY OWN LIFE BACK (2015)
(Robin Randall & Bill LaFleur)
I wrote a lyric about being fed up with living for someone else’s life, being treated badly, and reclaiming one’s own life. I was not actually going through this, but had the idea for a very long time when I did go through it. I gave Bill a piano vocal and he completely transformed the song into this moody rock track that really builds throughout. Sung with awesome angst and attitude by Josephine Schaffert.

HARD HEART TO BREAK (1989)
(Robin & Judithe Randall, Tony Sciuto)
This song is about letting someone know you’re ready to take a chance, no matter the heartbreak, the ups and downs, no fear, just do it! Tony and I worked out some interesting modulations in this song, which was typical of our musical writing. There are definite twists and turns of key centers, sort of like relationships!

HAVE A NICE DAY (2005) - (Bonus Track)
(Robin Randall, Kelley Palmer)
Kelley and I went to Hollywood High School together in the heart of Hollywood. Good times! We became fast friends in middle school and carried that on to HHS. We are still BFFs today! When there was to be a big Reunion we decided to write this catchy retro-infused, Pop Song about growing up in the 70’s, all the things we used to do and all the things that have changed. We co-produced this period piece track with a solid vocal by Kevin Campos and a hilariously awesome rap by Fred from Germany!

HEADIN’ FOR HEARTBREAK (1985) - (Bonus Track)
(Robin & Judithe Randall)
A pure 80’s pop tune. Judithe penned this, “We should not be doing this knowing we’ll get hurt in the end, but going for the thrill of it anyway” theme. This is an early song for us, and I went for that Sheena Easton vibe, musically.

(Robin & Judithe Randall, Robbie Gillman)

HIGH LIFE (1989)
(Robin & Judithe Randall, Tony Sciuto)
This song is about living out on the edge. Tony and I agreed to go for that groove rock, Don Henley feel to match the theme. The song was used in the ABC TV movie “The Amy Fisher Story” and Steve Hopkins created a great track with us. Marcie Free’s powerful, amazing vocal really sets the tone! It was used in the most tense part of that film.

HOW DO YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT (2014)
(Sopa Whyte, Robin Randall, Bill LaFleur)
Sopa’s piano lessons became more like setting pages from her diary to life, musically. She has a most unique vocal vibe to her singing and she lived her lyrics for sure. This is no exception. Bill LaFleur built a great track around this tale of betrayal. Even though Sopa was coming of age and I was so much older, we still could relate to wondering how someone we each knew “Could sleep at night” after we felt wronged by them.

HOW TIME FLIES (1993) (Bonus Track)
(Robin & Judithe Randall)
Two houses down on Hollyridge was an elderly widower named John. He wore a patch on his ear and seemed rather grumpy, but always let us take lemons from his tree and would motion to me to come up to get them. I had it in my head, I should make him cookies, or write a thank you card, but life was busy, and did not get around to it. I did not see John for awhile, then I heard from our other neighbor Ben, that John passed away. I didn’t know him well, but it greatly affected me. It moved Judithe to write this lyric. It was a late rainstorm at night in April when I wrote the music to her lyrics. On the cassette work tape you can hear the rain pouring down, like the rain knew how bad we felt that we never showed him gratitude for his generosity other than saying thanks. Guy Marshall’s arrangement captures those moments for me, listening to the rain and feeling like time rushes on too fast.

IF I COULD TOUCH YOU ONE MORE TIME (1994)
(Robin & Judithe Randall)
Written for a Baywatch episode montage when Mitch is about to lose his fiancé to Cancer. Mitch flashes back to better times and then it comes back to Mitch on the beach with her in their final moments. So many people wrote into the Baywatch Production company to ask for a copy. Steve’s heartbreaking vocal made the song so emotional and Judithe’s lyric is beautifully written. I experimented with changing keys and couldn’t decide, so used a different key on each Chorus. This made the melody really climb and Steve used his entire vocal range to break out those tissue boxes big time. To this day, it’s a real tear jerker.

IF YOU DARE TO DREAM (2000)
(Robin & Judithe Randall, Guy Marshall)
My uncle Doug was developing a new show called Higher Ground and he asked us to write a theme song. We wrote it with Guy Marshall who also was doing production. The show was shot in Vancouver, but we were not Canadian, which apparently you had to be to work on the show, so the song was a no go. Windy Wagner did an absolutely fantastic vocal performance with the positive message of the song and its anthemic quality. However, it did not get used, but I am still so grateful that we wrote it.

IF YOU REMEMBER LOVE (1993)
(Robin & Judithe Randall, Jeff Law)
Jeff Law had the initial chord changes and melody of the first few bars and I came in with the pre-chorus melody and changes. We were sitting there at the Hollyridge piano and worked out the chorus, chords, modulations and a heck of a range of melody. Judithe came in 3 days later and handed us a lyric about looking back on a summer romance and asking the person to come back to them. It was awesome! Both Aina & Marcie rose to the occasion with soaring emoted vocals on top of an exquisite music track by Jeff Silverman & Tommy Reeves.

I’LL CHOOSE LOVE (1990)
(Robin Randall & K.A. Parker)
(From K.A.) The lyric was written to express exactly what it says about my experiences with romance thus far, unlucky, but still optimistic lol.
(From Robin) I wrote the music to K.A.’s lyric. The song’s melody has a wide range and boy does Ronee Martin carry it so well. My favorite part is the bridge because I did some crazy modal interchange stuff with the chords, I wasn’t even thinking what I was doing back then, it just sounded cool.

IN AN INSTANT (2010)
(Robin Randall & Bill LaFleur)
This was written for the film “Soul Surfer” as a theme song, but was not used. Despite that, we are happy it got written as it is a song about finding hope and healing when life changes “In an Instant.” Bill got the title from watching footage of Bethany Hamilton talking about her tragic ordeal of losing her arm to a shark, the recovery and the drive to keep going and keep the faith. Bill’s production was both anthemic and uplifting and reminiscent in message of the song “The Climb”.
